There are graveyards of discarded vehicles all throughout the Zone.

Many have been stripped for parts by scavengers over the decades, leaving behind the husks of old machines.

During the liquidation the trees and soil inside the zone were tilled over and buried. The trees now standing emerged since. Because of this fields of metal skeletons are slowly being enveloped by the vegetation - fossils traveling backwards through time.
